There are two styles of keys for the Baisch luggage. The "standard" luggage/suitcase key that most are familiar with that has a hollow center that slides over a pin in the center of the lock, and similar to the first photo, and the solid curved key shown in the second photo. I have not been able to find anyone that can replicate the second key. Fortunately I have several examples and one key fits all the luggage I have.

Do you have a better picture of the second style?

Perhaps with a ruler laid next to it?

For the repro luggage we get locks that look very similar to one of the several styles.

Someday, if we get lucky, we can make a time line of how the luggage varied.

What is amusing, is that most SLs with luggage get them done as "deluxe' style which was the least common and I do not frequently see sedans with deluxe but rather with the standard, which I think is more right.  In other words, most sedans and cabriolets  (pontons and X frames) have luggage which is in the delivered form.  SL owners (not knowing any better?) have theirs in matching leather.  This is just my observation from several decades of looking.

Next time I am back in Australia, I will photograph both keys and measure them. I believe that most of the sedans had the "normal" fabric based luggage, while the SL's, Coupes and Cabrios had the pigskin/leather version. It is not clear in the options/price list. I will also try and take photos of all of the pieces of luggage that I have, which must be 20 or so pieces/sets, and identify them to particular models, be they 170/220 sedans, cabriolets, 300 sedans and coupe/cabriolets, and Pontons.
