Stephen, How does the heat shield mount to the muffler? Did Timevalve also supply the heat shield? Will you use clamps to assemble the components, or take it to a muffler shop for welding?

They made the heat shield and provided 4 tabs that will need to be welded to the muffler and shield. Why they didn't do this, I don't know. I will be taking it to a muffler shop for the installation.

The three rubber block hangers are .50 each. I decided this was a bit pricey for a piece of rubber and will search out another source. Does anyone one know the correct placement of the third rubber hanger?

Automobilia Versand has the rubber hangers for euro 7.20 each. Mercedes Benz part number 183 492 02 82.

Look under 170/220 subsection Antrieb. They ship quickly and don't have the minimum shipping charges that are typical of other German suppliers.

I paid 500 euros for my stainless system from Theo Sobkoviak in Germany. See links. An exact replica of the original, only stainless. He is the 170 model specialist for the MVC. It was ready to go and included all hangers. I had to cut one tube to length: no further welding. I did the whole install in an hour. I highly recommend him.

Thanks John for the info. This was the first time Timevalve made a system for a 170Da OTP. Usually they are right on the money when it comes to length of pipes etc. This system is all stainless steel. I checked the price for a 170S exhaust system and it is around 500 euros or 0.

Forgot about your question about the 3rd support. I slipped under my 170Va to take a picture of what mine looks like. Not the same type of hanger, but then I don't know if mine is original. This hanger is just forward of the rear jacking arm/post and attached to the oval tubular X chassis frame.
