Here's a new 170 tranny mount on Germany ebay for  EUR 69,00

69 Euro + shipping is less than the US price of $200.00 plus tax.

I wonder if the one on German ebay is NEW or reconditioned?   They are often sold as reconditioned.....since its only new block rubber "fused" joining the 2 plates that needs replacement; same as motor mounts.

I bought one last month on a German E-bay site for 69 Euros. It looks new. The shipping was 15 Euros. The mount is easier to install after you remove the metal tunnel cover and can be done from the top. It can also be done from under the car but the two upper bolts are hard to reach. I have pictures on the old Kodak and will post later.

Charles, were you getting a vibration from the misalign of the drive shaft v tranny mount, or did you replace the mount just for general purposes?  I understand as the rubber deteriorates on the tranny mount, it puts the tranny lower and out of straight alignment,,,often causing a sound or vibration, often detected as you drive.

Jim:   I noticed a vibration when I engaged the clutch with the old mount. As soon as I take a test drive I will know the effect of the new mount. The old one was in such bad shape it came out in two pieces. I also changed the transmission fluid with some new ATF.

Today I took a test drive with the new mount installed. The vibration is gone and the ride is better.

Charles: I finally changed my tranny mount, this weekend, while working on the car up in Indiana.

It took about 2 hours with the car on the ground.  There are 4 bolts and you need to raise the tranny with a sizzors jack.

Images show before and after mount.  My trusty sidekick, George Freije is holding the items and helped in the process of R&R.   The old mount put the tranny down about 3/4 of inch....and surely must have put a strain on the drive shaft/rubber interface, etc....so happy to have this done while I had the tranny cover off.

Charles got a good price for the transmission mount.  To give you an idea:

MB Classic Center            euro 91.5
Niemoeller                       euro 97.5
Automobil - Versand           euro 75.5
Steenbuck                       euro 75.0
Jelinek                             euro 75.0
Star Classics                   euro 94.0 (approx w/ conversion)

The quality of the replacement mount looks good.  Is the metal bracket the same thickness as the original.

This transmission mounting is used on all post war 170 and 220 models.  The same mount is also used on all of the 300 models.  Part number is 181 220 00 17.
